    I have UCTD and Fibromyalgia. My Rheum. has me on prednisone 10 mg and plaquenil 400 mg. I have only been taking the plaquenil for three weeks. Still have alot of fatigue and have been in a mini flare with fever, rash, mouth sores, weakness and joint pains the past few days. 8 replies Hi. Been taking plaquenil for 2 weeks. About 10 days ago I came up with a rash on back of my hands. V itchy similar to nettle rashesp at night and in sun. Was unsure whether it was connected to plaquenil or possibly sun as it was a sunny day when it came up. I have had lupus for 13 years. It took 4 years to diagnose it. My blood tests did not show the normal results for a positive lupus test but the doctor said let's try you on Plaquenil. I responded to the Plaquenil so we decided I have lupus. I was doing fine with no flare ups until last March when I was hospitalized for pain management.

    I have been getting these horrible rashes and they are not related to sun exposure. I am interested to see if anyone here has gotten a rash from Plaquenil after being on it for several months.

    I have actually had this same reoccurring rash for about 5 years, but wasn't diagnosed with lupus until earlier this year. So mine is def not caused by the Plaquenil. My doc cannot find the connection, but the only thing that helps me is Zyrtec I use the generic. I hope this at least helps you find relief with the rash. It does not appear to be from the Plaquenil but, simply Lupus. Don't mean to scare you but, this can be caused by Plaquenil OR by Lupus OR M. S.
