    Plaquenil and stomach problems

It's used to treat and prevent malaria infection, and to reduce symptoms and progression of autoimmune diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and others. Malaria is spread by mosquitoes, which transmit the parasites that cause the infection, usually in tropical and subtropical parts of the world.

I am on Plaquenil and it makes my stomach hurt. I take a lot of Tums and make sure I eat when I take my meds. Also, Plaquenil is hard on the eyes to some people so get them checked and tell your eye doctor you are on it and that you have RA. Good luck. I've been on plaquenil for about 14 years and have not had any problems with it. Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil is a drug that is classified as an anti-malarial drug. Plaquenil is prescribed for the treatment or prevention of malaria. It is also prescribed for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and the side effects of lupus such as hair loss, joint pain, and more. So is it possible that the stomach problems took a year of taking the med to develop and only then gradually got worse? Or is this just a coincidence? Maybe I'll try going back on it just to see if the stomach problems come back, but if Plaquenil Oxiklorin for me is the reason, I sure won't be taking it ever again!

For example, it may be combined with an antibiotic to treat chronic Q-fever, which humans usually catch from farm animals or raw milk. Plaquenil is used to treat other types of infections too.

If you don't have to, don't stop your plaquenil. I stopped taking the plaquenil the beginning of December. It doesn't agree with my stomach I take it with meals too. And since I hadn't had a miraculous recovery the 6 months I'd been on it, I didn't think there was any harm in stopping it. Anyone have stomach pain after taking their plaquenil? I took my first dosage on Sunday and my stomach hurt so bad I could hardly stand it. I drank milk but it still hurt. Now I'm scared to take any more. I want to feel better but not at that cost. I remember having diarrhea when I started taking this medication for a while but it went away over time. I think you should give it a try and see what happens. You can always stop it if you think that the side effects are not going away. Good luck.
